Short Ribs Are The Way to Go!
Are You Feeling Fancy?!
So last week my wife said she wanted to have something ‘fancy’ for dinner. After a little fun banter about what she was implying about our normal dinners, I felt stuck on what that would look like this time!
Not one to disappoint I set about looking for something….fancy….we could have for dinner. Beef short ribs are something we admittedly don’t eat often but when we do, they always feel like a special meal and a little, well fancier than normal! So, with that in mind and knowing we had some in the freezer I set out for a recipe!
My sister has recently turned me on to the Half Baked Harvest blog which comes up some pretty awesome recipes (we haven’t tried one we didn’t like yet!) so I started there.
After looking around a bit, we settled on the Cider Braised Short Ribs with Caramelized Onions. - Half Baked Harvest. It was an easy recipe to follow and make and man was it delicious!! We paired it with some creamy mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus, and well I think I did it….we achieved feelin’ fancy!
There’s a ton of other recipes out there for short ribs. We’ve tried some different recipes over the years, and many are braised and in a wine sauce, which is a really good way to go also. The biggest key with short ribs is getting a good braise on them and then letting them cook low and slow for long enough!
